Turner & Laden claim honours in XCGCs DeZalze Annual Charity event.

Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge held its 7th qualifier at the stunning DeZalze Golf Course, Stellenbosch, on 23 August 2016. The popular tournament is now in its 19th year, with South Africa the only country beyond the Arabian Gulf to host invitational qualifier rounds.

Through this qualifier, XCGC supported DelZalze’s Golf community of staff in its annual Charity event, where players will compete for a berth in the grand final later this year in Ajman, United Arab Emirates.

Glenn Turner and Mark Laden (Team Oxbow) claimed the day’s honours, and the place in the 2016 Grand Final, with 42 points, with James Mdwekesha and Randal Daniels (Team DeZalza) securing 2nd place with 39 points, after countback, forcing Craig Ross and Nic Wides (Team Flook) to settle for third place (also with 39 points).

Johan Basson, CEO OF Bytes Document Solutions, the largest Xerox Distributor Worldwide, said “It's been a great event for us and a greater business tool. We were able to spend quality time with our valued customers and our customers made some great connections on the course. This is the sixth event in South Africa since 2013 and based on customer feedback, we would probably have this as an annual event in the future.” “The community development charity initiative in the  Cape Town event was well supported  and  the generosity of players in  the raffles and auctions was very encouraging and inspiring.” added Basson.

On course competitions of Nearest the Pin (Hole 3 – Chrysler) was won by Randal Daniels, Nearest the Pin (Hole 9 – Select Property) by Marlene Lategan, Nearest the Pin (Hole 12 – Devere Acuma) by Cathy Bruyns and Nearest the Pin (Hole 16 – Ajman Tourism) by Willie Viljoen.

Winners of the Challenge’s new on course competition, King of the Course, where teams that perform best on Pars 3, 4 and 5 win prizes as well as entry into the ‘Golden Ticket’ draw, which will bring a wild-card entry into the 2016 Grand Final, are; Par 3 Matt Brownie and Jason Maritz with 17 points, Brett Furlong and Andrew Pittaway on Par 4s with 39 points and Par 5 Wim Van Heerden and Leon Geusteyn with 14 points.

This years’ Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge is supported by the Emirate of Ajman, as 2016 host city, and destination partners include the Ajman Palace, Ajman Kempinski, and Ajman Saray. Fairmont Ajman hotels and Ajman’s Al Zorah Golf Club are venue sponsor for the 2016 Grand Final. Other sponsors of the tournament include deVere Acuma, Chrysler, and Select Property.
