McCarthy & Webb claim XCGCs 13rd round in Abu Dhabi

The 18th edition of the Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge held its thirteenth qualifying round at the stunning Gary Player designed Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Thursday, November 10, 2016. A strong field participated with Patrick McCarthy and Theun Webb, team Celtic Thunder from Abu Dhabi Aviation taking first place glory, with a score of 44 (Countback).

Runners-up were Craig Hanson and Darren McClelland, team Mizuno from HNI / Etihad, also with 44 (Countback) with third place going to Thomas and Rune Rassmussen, team Palmer's from Palmer’s carding 41.

Chrysler’s Nearest the Pin on Hole 3 was won by Jerome Martin from Thales, Select Property Group’s Hole 6 Nearest the Pin by Andrew Lamb from Mazrui, while deVere Acuma’s Nearest the Pin on Hole 17 was won by to Khaled Samawi from Ayyam Gallery.

XCGC’s new on-course competition - ‘King of Pars’ - sponsored by deVere Acuma recognises and rewards teams that perform best on Par 3's, Par 4's and Par 5's. The teams that score the best on the various hole types win a prize as well as enter the 'Golden Ticket' draw, which will see the lucky entrant win a place in the 2016 Grand Final. 

Winners of the King of Pars in the thirteenth qualifier are:

  • King of the Par 3: Ping Li and Lina Tyson from China International / Hong Kong United
  • King of the Par 4: Andrew Lamb and Blanca Rivollier from Mazrui
  • King of the Par 5: Gary Rawlings and Khalifa Al Masaood from Pitchmaster PmB International

The top five teams will compete in the 2016 Xerox Corporate Golf Challenge grand final, to be played in Ajman UAE, later this year.
